Four people died when a car bomb exploded next to an Iraqi military patrol south of Baghdad today.

Four people died when a car bomb exploded next to an Iraqi military patrol south of Baghdad today.

A police officer said the military patrol was travelling in the town of Mahmoudiya when a parked car bomb exploded near it, killing two soldiers and two civilians.

He said eight other people were wounded in the attack.

Mahmoudiya is located about 32km south of Baghdad.
