Four in court on £5m cannabis haul charges

Four men appeared at Tipperary District Court yesterday on charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act

Four men appeared at Tipperary District Court yesterday on charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act. They were arrested last Saturday after gardai seized cannabis resin worth up to £5 million at Kilcoran, near Cahir.

The four are Mr Roger O'Callaghan (above), aged 62, of Foyle Avenue, Knocknaheeny, Co Cork; Mr Billy Loftus (22) of Oakdale, Ballyvolane, Co Cork; Mr Jason O'Driscoll (23) of Green Street, Cork city; and Mr John O'Carroll (33) of Coachford, Co Cork.

They were remanded on bail on condition they sign on at their local Garda stations daily. Judge Patwell set bail for Mr O'Driscoll, Mr O'Callaghan and Mr O'Carroll at £15,000, and at £20,000 for Mr Loftus.

They are to appear at courts in Co Tipperary later this month.
