Four held over Offaly murder

Four people have been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Co Offaly last month.

Four people have been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Co Offaly last month.

Derek McDonagh (27) a married father of one was fatally stabbed outside his parent's home at the Arden View estate in Tullamore on September 20th.

A member of the Travelling community, his killing is being linked by gardaí to tensions between rival Traveller factions in the town.

Three men and a woman were arrested early this morning and are being held at Tullamore Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Richard Donovan (22) of the Unofficial Halting Site, Kilcruttin, Tullamore, was charged with McDonagh's murder two days after the incident took place.
