Four held over €600,000 drugs hauls

Cocaine and cannabis worth an estimated €200,000 have been seized in the south Dublin suburb of Ballinteer.

Officers from the drugs unit at Blackrock and Dundrum Garda stations stopped two vans last night and discovered two kilograms of cocaine and over eight kilograms of cannabis resin.

Two men in their 30s were arrested and are being held for questioning at Dundrum Garda station.

Elsewhere, two people are still in custody this morning after gardaí stopped and searched a car outside Portlaoise and seized a quantity of MDMA powder, which is used to make ecstasy tablets.

A house was searched, and a further seizure was made. The estimated value of the haul is €400,000.

A man and a woman, both in their 20s, were arrested and are being held at Portlaoise Garda station.
