Cocaine with a potential street value of €2.3 million has been seized in Dublin city centre. The seizure is part of an ongoing investigation into a north Dublin-based drug trafficking network, according to gardaí.

Officers from the Garda National Drug Unit and the National Criminal Intelligence Unit made the discovery after they stopped a car on Pearse Square, Dublin 2 at 9.45am.

The four men in the car, aged 43, 47, 23, and 24, were arrested and taken to Pearse Street Garda Station. They are being questioned under the Drug Trafficking Act.

“Early estimates indicate that a total of eight kilos of what is believed to be cocaine, which has a potential street value of €2.3 million was seized from the car,” a Garda spokesman said.

He said searches were continuing.
