Gardaí have ruled out foul play after a prisoner died in hospital after been found unconscious in his jail cell at the weekend.

Dean Barry, who was convicted in 2004 for his part in the gang rape of a woman, was found unconscious in his cell in Limerick prison at lunchtime on Saturday. It is believed he died by suicide.

Barry (24) was on remand at the prison after being charged with an arson attack in which he allegedly set fire to his house with his mother and girlfriend inside it.
