Nicosia - Cyprus has appealed to neighbouring countries for help in fighting large forest fires in the south of the Mediterranean holiday island.
The fires have scorched miles of scrubland and holiday homes have been destroyed. Coastal tourist areas further south of Nicosia have not been affected.
