Garda forensic experts last night concluded their examination of a flat in Bandon in west Cork where they believe a 42-year-old Englishman, John Forrester, was seriously assaulted before his body was dumped in the river Bandon.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Bandon are continuing to liaise with officials at the British embassy in Dublin to try to make contact with Mr Forrester’s family in the UK, whom they believe live in the Blackpool area. Mr Forrester’s body was recovered from the Bandon on Sunday night.
