The finalists in the 1997 New Food Products Competition were announced by the competition's sponsors, Teagasc, yesterday. Among the 14 finalists are two companies from Northern Ireland, and the qualifying food products include flavoured butter, diabetic Christmas pudding, diet yoghurt, and blue sheep's cheese.
The finals will take place in Virginia, Co Cavan, tomorrow and the awards will be presented by the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mr Walsh.
