An extra week's free fuel allowance should be allocated by the Minister for Social Welfare to old age pensioners, according to a Fine Gael TD, Mr Charlie Flanagan. The scheme gives those eligible a £5 voucher a week towards fuel. Other measures to help the elderly cope with the cold weather should also be considered, said Mr Flanagan.
