Five men were rescued in the Irish Sea today when their yacht got into difficulties off the coast of Co Wexford.

They were sailing from Plymouth to Arklow in Force 8 gales which twice knocked over their 40-foot yacht.

The alarm was raised and the Rosslare lifeboat and a coast guard helicopter joined the rescue.

The boat, which was from Howth, was eventually escorted into Arklow harbour by the local lifeboat.

Two of the men received medical treatment for minor injuries.
