Five people are feared injured after a bomber detonated explosives near an Israeli army checkpoint in the West Bank.

The fate of the bomber was not immediately known. Israel Radio said one of the wounded was a soldier.

The blast went off near the Bekaot checkpoint in the northern Jordan Valley, police and paramedics said.
