SRINAGAR - One Indian soldier and four separatist guerrillas were killed in a 12 hour gun battle on the outskirts of Kashmir's summer capital, police said yesterday.
More than a dozen militant groups are fighting New Delhi's rule in Jammu and Kashmir state, India's own Muslim majority province. Over 20,000 people have been killed in a seven year rebellion in the Himalayan state.
