Five Derry men were remanded in custody until January 14th on firearms and explosives charges at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday. The court heard that an application to inquire into the men's continued detention was going on at the High Court.

The five were among 16 high security prisoners who were released and then rearrested on the orders of the Minister for Justice. Mrs Owen, after the confusion over the delisting of Judge Dominic Lynch from the Special Criminal Court.
