The incident happened just after 10am around 38 miles south-west of St David's Head in Wales when a fire broke out on the Jismonde, based in Dunmore East, Co Waterford.

The crew sent out a distress signal before abandoning the boat on a safety raft.

The men, who were suffering from smoke inhalation, were picked up by a trawler and brought to Waterford Regional Hospital by the Waterford-based Coast Guard helicopter.
