Gardai say the fisherman who was killed in an accident on a fishing trawler off the west coast yesterday was Mr Seamus Owen Lucey, of Kilcullen, Cob Kildare.
The body was taken by the Irish Marine Rescue Service to University College Hospital, Galway, early yesterday morning after being airlifted from the fishing boat, the Westira, which was about 50 miles west of Shannon. Gardai say it appeared that he was pulling in nets when part of the machine struck his head.
