PARIS - Algeria's outlawed Islamic Salvation Front (FIS), formerly its main Islamic political force, is set to appeal for a ceasefire in the strife-torn north African country, a French newspaper reported yesterday. The FIS, which was banned after the annulment of 1992 elections which it was poised to win, could be made on state television by FIS chief Mr Abassi Madani, said the daily Liberation. - (AFP)
