First annual potato blight in Cork and Kerry

The first outbreaks of potato blight in the State this year have been reported in Counties Kerry and Cork.

The first outbreaks of potato blight in the State this year have been reported in Counties Kerry and Cork.

According to semi-state body Teagasc, blight was recorded in Kerry on April 28th and spread to Cork on May 18th.

In an effort to contain the disease, all potato-growing areas are now being monitored by the Department of Agriculture and Teagasc.
