Fireworks can be bought legally in Northern Ireland by anyone over 16 from today, for the first time in 20 years.

Fireworks can be bought legally in Northern Ireland by anyone over 16 from today, for the first time in 20 years.

Fireworks were banned as a response to the worsening security situation in the 1970s. While fireworks such as rockets and Roman candles are back on open sale, bangers will remain illegal and it will be an offence to use fireworks between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
