Firefighters were forced to retreat from a fire in an industrial area in Inchicore this evening after missiles were thrown at them.

Three fire units were attempting to put out the fire which was started on open ground near the ESB substation off the Jamestown Road.

Up to 11 firefighters were stoned with rocks and bottles as they attempted to approach the scene of the bonfire.

No firefighters were injured during the incident which occurred at around 6.30pm.
