A fire in a Dublin city centre car park today forced the evacuation of customers from a nearby restaurant.

The fire began in a car parked on the ground floor of the Fleet Street car park in Temple Bar. Five units of Dublin Fire Brigade fought the blaze; foul play is not suspected.

Patrons and staff of the adjacent Thunder Road Cafewere forced to leave the restaurant as smoke came through air vents leading to the car park.

Damage was mainly restricted to the car, however, despite the fact the car park was typically full for the time of day.

Later, in an unrelated incident, three units of the Fire Brigade were called to another nearby restaurant after a smell of smoke was detected.
