FIRE experts yesterday investigated a gas explosion that blew out a wall of a Co Cork factory - and put six people temporarily out of work.

The explosion at Orlando Foods in Midleton at 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday blew out a gable wall and resulted in smoke, fire and water damage to the food processing plant. The explosion was believed to have been caused by a leak from a gas tank in the factory.

Three units from the fire service fought the blaze for over three hours. Nobody was injured.
