Over £170,000 worth of damage was caused when a fire destroyed a furniture shop early yesterday morning

Over £170,000 worth of damage was caused when a fire destroyed a furniture shop early yesterday morning. The blaze at Fentons, Ballincollig, Co Cork, was put out after an anonymous 999 alert. The building was declared unsafe after the fire and the roof was demolished later yesterday.

Gardai are investigating the cause of the fire.

A student was treated in Cork University Hospital following a fire in a three storey house on Donovans Road, Cork city, in which she had a flat. The student was discharged from hospital after being treated for smoke inhalation.
