A congregation of 80 Muslims was yesterday seeking alternative accommodation following a fire which caused severe damage to their mosque in Craigavon, Co Armagh.

Early on Monday morning, a resident who lives nearby called the police and fire brigade after spotting the fire. The building, at Legahory Court, which was converted to a mosque 10 years ago, sustained considerable damage. In addition, some money was stolen from collection boxes inside.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
