A cathedral in Co Longford has suffered significant damage after a fire early this morning.
Gardai are investigating the cause of the blaze at St Mel's Cathedral, which is believed to have broken out at about 5am.
Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the town if at all possible.
