A school in Co Leitrim has suffered significant damage after a fire early this morning.
Gardaí said investigations into the cause of the blaze at Meánscoil Fatima in Ballinamore were ongoing.
Arson has not been ruled out.
Leitrim Fianna Fáil Senator John Ellis said the staffroom and a number of the classrooms were damaged in the fire, affected which broke out at the school this morning”.
"I have already spoken with Minister for Education Batt O’Keeffe TD to ask him to instruct his officials to set about finding alternative, temporary accommodation for the students of Meánscoil Fatima as a matter of urgency," he said.
