Fire crews are battling to bring a blaze at a Co Kildare meat factory under control this evening.

Fire crews are battling to bring a blaze at a Co Kildare meat factory under control this evening.

The fire broke out around 4pm at the Kildare Chilling Company just outside Kildare town.

A spokesman for Kildare County Council said he was unable to say how the fire started or whether there are any casualties.

Meanwhile Siptu, which represents 250 of the 350 employees at the factory, is planning to meet management tomorrow when a full assessment of the damage will be possible.
