Gardaí in Dublin have made a fifth arrest in their investigation into the murder of Sean McMahon in Tallaght last month.

A man in his 30s was arrested today and is detained at Tallaght Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act, a Garda statement said.

Mr McMahon (35) was shot in the head as he slept in his home on Donaghmore Avenue on November 14th by a gunman who gained access by the back door. The father-of-two's body was found by his partner.

Four men, aged 16, 21, 25 and 44, were arrested yesterday in connection with Mr McMahon's death.

Gardaí said today that three of those have been released without charge.

The fourth man remains in custody at Tallaght Garda station.

Mr McMahon was known to gardaí as an armed robber and associate of car dealer Brian Downes, who was shot dead along with Edward Ward in Walkinstown, Dublin, in October.
