Gardaí have arrested 15 people and seized heroin, cash and an air pistol in an anti-drugs operation in Tallaght this morning.

Officers also searched more than 30 houses in the area during what they called Operation Fossil.

"This is an anti-drugs operation targeting street dealers of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine," a Garda spokesman said.

"Operation Fossil has been ongoing for a number of months and is a joint operation between the Garda National Drugs Unit and the Tallaght District Drugs Unit."

The 13 men and two women were being questioned in at Tallaght, Rathfarnham, Rathmines, Terenure, Sundrive Road and Clondalkin Garda Stations under Section Two of theCriminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Gardai said a number would be appearing in Tallaght District Court this afternoon.
