Fine Gael has selected two candidates to contest the Westmeath constituency in the forth coming general election. Mr Paul McGrath TD will be joined by Cllr Joe Whelan on the party ticket in the three seater constituency.
At the party selection convention in Mullingar yesterday Mr Whelan, a secondary school teacher from Moate, won the party nomination. Mr McGrath has been in the Dail since 1989.
