THE new Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council is Mr Tony Fox, Fianna Fail, from the Dundrum ward.
Mr Fox, who was supported by Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and Progressive Democrat councillors, defeated the Labour nominee, Mr Frank Buckley, by 16 votes to eight.
Mr Buckley was supported by Labour, the Green Party and Democratic Left. This is the third year that the chairmanship has been shared between the Fianna Fail and Fine Gael groups.
