Minister for Justice Brian Lenihan will be asked today to meet members of the Garda Representative Association to hear concerns about overcrowding at Cork North Garda Divisional Headquarters in Fermoy.

The station has been a divisional headquarters since 1997 but it cannot accommodate the 60 or so officers stationed there.

Mr Lenihan is visiting Fermoy today to perform the official opening of the new €17 million courthouse.

Cork East Labour TD Seán Sherlock is pressing for a commitment from Mr Lenihan for an immediate refurbishment of the Garda station.
