Several roads and bridges remained closed in Co Fermanagh last night because of flooding on Lough Erne, with the North’s Rivers Agency warning that it could take weeks for water levels on the lough to return to normal.

The flooding caused widespread disruption. Many people had difficulty getting to work, being forced to take detours of up to 20 miles, farmers suffered problems tending to their livestock while a number of stores in Enniskillen had to take emergency action to keep the water at bay.
