Rockwell College will have a female principal from next month for the first time in its 148-year history.

Rockwell College will have a female principal from next month for the first time in its 148-year history.

Audrey O’Byrne (37) will take over the reins at Rockwell College, near Cashel, Co Tipperary, in March. The Cahir native has taught English and history at the school since 1999. She replaces Pat O’Sullivan, who became the school’s first lay principal in 1997.

Ms O’Byrne will take up her new role on March 1st.
