A woman (49) was killed when she was knocked down by a car in Co Kerry last night.

A woman (49) was killed when she was knocked down by a car in Co Kerry last night.

The woman, who was hit by the car as she crossed a road at Lisanearla, Abbeydorney, at around 9.45 p.m., was taken to Tralee General Hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead on arrival.

She was named by gardai today as Ms Mary O'Connor from Leith East, Tralee.

The man who died when his motorcycle hit a pedestrian in Tralee yesterday evening was named today as Mr Padraig Sheehy (29) from  Oakpark Road, Tralee.

In Co Antrim, a woman died when two cars collided on the Green Road in Ballyclare at about 12.30 this morning.

Four people were taken to Antrim Area Hospital with minor injuries.
