Fears are growing for over 400 jobs at Lufthansa Technik Airmotive Ireland (LTAI) in Dublin tonight.
Management at the Rathcoole-based firm warned staff in a notice today that they will be put on protective notice from Monday unless they agree to accept a new agreement on work practices and overtime arrangements.
Workers at the plant agreed to accept the proposals in April.
Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mary Coughlan, tonight expressed her concern at serious developments at the frim.
She said it would be regrettable if the actions of a small few jeopardise the jobs of so many in this highly skilled sector.
The Tánaiste called on workers opposed to the agreement reached at the National Implementation Body to consider the serious implications of their actions for their and their colleagues¿ jobs.
LTAI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik, specialises in the maintenance and overhaul of CFM56-3, CFM56-7 and JT9D engines.
