London - An organic farmer, Mr Guy Watson, yesterday lost his High Court attempt to halt government backed trials of a genetically-modified maize crop in a field next to his farm - but has decided to fight on.

Environmentalists fighting the introduction of so-called "Frankenstein Food" reacted with dismay to Mr Justice Jowitt's refusal to give the go-ahead for what they say is a "make or break" test case for organic farming.
