Three members of a Galway city family were seriously injured when they were attacked by two men who were attempting to steal a car from outside their home early yesterday morning. A woman in her 50s was transferred to St James's Hospital in Dublin after sustaining a blow to the head in the attack, which occurred at Ballinfoyle shortly before 3 a.m.
The woman's husband and 20-year-old son were also hit on the head during the incident, in which the son was knocked unconscious.
