Family homeless after blaze

A Co Monaghan family were left homeless last night after a fire swept through their two-storey house at Bree, near Castleblayney. Firemen rescued Mrs Bridie Duffy, who was trapped in an upstairs room, as the fire raged on the ground floor. Mrs Duffy's husband, Patrick, and their children were out of the house at the time. The cause of the fire was not known.
