A family of four escaped unhurt after a fire was started maliciously at their west Belfast home.

A family of four escaped unhurt after a fire was started maliciously at their west Belfast home.

The front door was set alight and destroyed while scorch damage was caused to an outside wall of the property at Mounteagles Drive in the Lagmore area shortly after 4am this morning.

A couple in their 30s and boys aged five and 11 were uninjured.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: “Detectives are investigating a motive for the attack and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.”

It is not being treated as sectarian.
