Family claim mislaid urn

Gardai in Swinford, Co Mayo, have traced the owners of an urn found at Knock Airport which contained cremated human remains. A family living in England mislaid the urn on the way home after having scattered the ashes of the Mayo born deceased on his family plot.

The gold coloured plastic container, found outside the exit door of the terminal building last week, had details on the identity of the deceased and the fact that he had been cremated at Golders Green crematorium on December 4th.

"It was a rather unusual case but we have located the owners and the urn is here for them to collect," said Supt Liam Collins. It is understood a small amount of ashes still remain in the urn.
