Factory worker killed in Co Waterford

A chicken factory worker died today after a stack of pallets fell on top of him.

A chicken factory worker died today after a stack of pallets fell on top of him.

The 23-year-old Polish national had been working at Cappoquin Poultry, in Co Waterford for three years.

Gardaí were called to the scene shortly after the incident at around 8.25am this morning.

A Garda spokesman said it was investigating the circumstances surrounding a workplace accident.

The Health and Safety Authority confirmed it had also despatched an investigator to the scene of the death.

Cappoquin Poultry said it would not be making any statement on the incident at this stage.
