There was a 0.6 per cent fall in prices paid for goods leaving Irish factories in July, according to data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Despite last month’s fall in the wholesale price index, which measures the selling price of goods manufactured in the State, annual prices were up 0.3 per cent.

Prices for meat and meat products dropped 1.9 per cent last month while office machinery and computer prices fell 1.2 per cent.

Over the year pharmaceutical and chemical product prices have risen 7.2 per cent while other food products including bread and confectionary rose by 5.5 per cent.

Building and construction materials were down 5.5 per cent with reinforcing metal prices down almost a third compared with last year.
