LONDON - Textile and electronic factories are releasing high levels of "gender bending" chemicals into Britain's rivers, causing sex changes in male fish, the New Scientist weekly says today.

Researchers from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency believe that 11 rivers in Scotland could contain up to 10 times the proposed limit for nonylphenol, a chemical that can feminise fish.
