Faction leader survives attack

MONROVIA - The aide de camp and several bodyguards of the Liberian faction leader Charles Taylor were killed yesterday in an "assassination attempt" in the offices of the ruling council of state, Mr Taylor announced on radio. Several soldiers were wounded in the attack, Mr Taylor, who sits on the council of state, said.
