The State has until today to serve an extradition document on a US lawyer wanted in Connecticut for the murder of her brother-in-law. Ms Beth-Anne Carpenter (34), with an address in Rock Road, Blackrock, Co Dublin, is accused of capital murder, felony murder and conspiracy to murder her brother-in-law, Mr Anson Clinton, who was shot dead in Hartford, Connecticut, in March 1994.

Dublin District Court heard yesterday that the woman was being held Mountjoy Prison on a provisional warrant. However, a certificate from the Minister for Justice confirming he had received a request for extradition was still not ready and the 18-day deadline expires today.
