A Garda investigation has begun following the discovery of a 'viable' improvised explosive device outside a house in Dublin last night.

Army bomb disposal experts were called out to disarm the device, which was was found outside a house at Cashel Avenue, Crumlin last night.

The bomb disposal team arrived at the scene at 11.15pm and carried out a controlled explosion.

The bomb disposal officer gave the all clear at about 12.20am. The remains of the device were handed over to Gardaí for investigation into the incident.
