Ex-Stasi chief dies, aged 92

Berlin - Erich Mielke, the former chief of East Germany's Stasi secret police who was dubbed the "Master of Fear", has died, aged 92, the state registration office said yesterday. A spokesman for the office said a death certificate had been issued for Mielke, but he could not say when he had died.
