SARAJEVO - International officials expressed concern yesterday over Bosnia's planned elections after the former prime minister, Mr Haris Silajdzic, was attacked by supporters of the ruling Muslim party while campaigning.
Mr Silajdzic was in "very bad condition" and staying at a hotel in the Croatian capital after being hit over the with an iron bar at a rally in Cazin in northwest Bosnia late on Saturday, an aide, Mr Mustafa Mujagic, said.
The attack was the first such violent incident in the run up to Bosnia's first post war nationwide elections, due to be held by September 14th.
