A former senior GAA man appeared in court before Judge Flann Brennan yesterday on a series of summonses for alleged sex offences against 11 young persons over a 21-year period. The 65-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Ballybay District Court, Co Monaghan. A total of 75 summonses for indecent assault related to incidents involving young persons, both male and female, aged between seven and 15 years on dates between 1957 and 1978.

Supt Tom Flannery said the State was seeking an adjournment to December 4th to enable the preparation of a book of evidence. Solicitor, Mr Roger McGinley, indicated there was no objection from the defence. The case was adjourned to December 4th.
